Yes.

Key Settings:
[ ] Confirm "Session" saving (unchecked
Startup: [x] Open Browser
Startup Directory: (x) Last
[ ] Multiple view for same file (unchecked)
[x] Synchronize browser when view is closed
Maximum of view tabs (1)
...

carrabino - I think you misunderstood what Pierre was saying. I had the same problem as you and it was driving me nuts.
1) Go to Settings->General
2) CHECK (Enable) "Confirm Session Saving"
3) Exit program
4) Xnview prompts to save session
5) CHECK (Enable) "Do not show this message again"
6) Select "No" button

Now it saved the options to not save session and not to prompt you to save session. When you re-open Xnview it should only open with the image you opened from Explorer. You might have to close open tabs first, I don't remember. To change to saving sessions again or to enable save session prompt you have to follow steps 1-4 again.

How do I disable font antialising in Qt5 versions?

I can't figure out how to disable font antialiasing in the Qt5 versions of XnViewMP on Linux. All of my other Qt5 applications follow my system font settings. Below is a screenshot showing another Qt5 application, PkgBrowser, alongside XnViewMP 0.81 for comparison. I've tried searching the forum and online without success. Any help would be appreciated.

"Error while opening the file" on mac/OS-X 10.11.6

A few weeks ago I installed the newest version of XnViewMP on my Mac (at the moment OS-X 10.11.6).
This was the first time I installed XnViewMP.
In the beginning there were no problems, but since a few days XnViewMP brings an error message everytime when I open it.
After closing the error window XnViewMP is also terminated. So I have no chance to get into the program.
The error message is "Fehler beim Öffnen der Datei" (Error while opening the file).

I uninstalled the app , deleted all config files (using AppCleaner) and reinstalled XnViewMP.
But I get still the same error message.
Can anybody help, please?

rsistudio wrote:Do .psd & tif files have larger sized embedded previews?

As far I know, PSDs have only fairly small (160 pixels) thumbnails embedded in them.

George (Super User » Can TIFF images store embedded thumbnails in them like JPEG (JPG) files can?) wrote:According to FreeImage Documentation http://downloads.sourceforge.net/freeimage/FreeImage3170.pdf , which is a library used by various software programs that work with images, thumbnails can be set and retrieved for the TIFF format regardless of the compression method used.

This is what is says in regards to TIFF format: "The TIF format has no restriction regarding the thumbnail bit depth, but a standard bitmap type is recommended."

So, I guess the answer to your question is that yes, thumbnails are certainly supported by the TIFF format. the only question is which software programs actually support and expose this functionality and to what extent.

PS: In addition to the PNG preview (383×512px), I was able to extract a 1712×2288px JPEG from your .afphoto sample with JPEGsnoop's Export JPEG command :-?

Just switched over from XnView to XnViewMP. (Windows 64bit version) So much faster now.

Is there a option to get back "Set as Wallpaper" with the right mouse click window within the image browser?

XnViewMP doesnt seem to have that option like XnView did.

You should be able to do that using Image > Canvas size... four times to make the four crops required, then Tools > Create strip of images... to assemble the crops into the desired order.

Note that it is necesary to click on each image to see the full image.

For example, to convert this:

Input.png

to this:

Output.png

[That is actually not the order of hassan requested... :( ]

Use these Image > Canvas size... settings:

Canvas_size_series'.png

And then these Tools > Create strip of images... settings:

Create strip of images'.png

I should have made the first two illustrations a little smaller...

This sneaky jpeg you found buried in there appears to be the original pic with no edits, not sure how that is useful to anyone (except the security snoops or something  ) No wonder file sizes are strange from their apps. This might explain it.

Of course the trouble now is, how do you preview the editing work you have done? It's no use editing pictures and not being able to preview the work done externally. Fortunately the png was there, although small.

Maybe someone could check. If I navigate through a folder with mixed image formats (png and svg), the svg files get skipped. Only png files show up.
Opening a svg file (which shows up) the arrows for navigation are greyed out.

Improve thumbnail features for video files.

Hi,

I wanted to request an improvement of how videos are displayed as thumbnails. I know XNview is primarily a photo view and editor, but the frame work is already pretty much there.

So a few years ago, the feature got added that thumbnails could be made up of multiple snap shots from the file. That was a great improvement, but has not really moved forwards since then. I think it might be time that this part of the program get a lick of paint and a freshen. The times on the video when the captures are taken are hard coded to be captured at frame 0, then 25% through, 50% and 75%, it looks like.

The first improvement would be to change the first frame to something like 5% as for some videos the first frame is black, so that is 1 of the 4 captures showing nothing.

The next improvement would be to allow users to define the percentages through the video the captures are taken, as happens if the thumbnail is set to single frame capture mode.

After that allowing users to define the amount of captures taken per video. So say if you have enough storage space, processing power, etc. Maybe you would want bigger thumbnails with more captures, like 6, etc.

Like I said I know XNviewers main aim is not for video, but the frame work for the above appears already mostly been put in place. I know there have been comments in the past that this could make XNview more crash prone, but if this is all configurable, it could be left turned off as default and only turned on by the adventurous users who would like to use it / beta test it.

Final stage would be to mimic video sharing sites where an animated gif or something is created for each video that animates on mouse over, but that is just wishful thinking. For myself being someone who gets lots of event video, having a way of having some representation of content of the videos in a preview environment would be super useful to identify what video I am looking for to edit and is not something that most if any video editing software gives you, as far as I am aware.

Left-right scrolling

I am a very satisfied user of xnview for many years. I just found out that MP can save sessions of open tabs and since this is a feature I always wanted, I decided to try it. I find it really good, but there is one very important problem that I didn't manage to solve so I wonder if anyone might know. When I try to scroll left and right on a large image with the scroll button of the mouse, the image is moving just a bit and I have to push the button many times for the picture to move all the way to the other end. This is really slow and not at all what I was used to do with xnview, where the movement of the picture is fast and continuous, just like with the up and down scrolling. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I didn't discover?
Thank you.
