In the file menu of the browser XnView (Copy pathname) I can copy the as folder path, but not to the as file path. This is wrong.
From the menu file must be copied to the as file path. The folder path can be copied from the address bar of the program.

Update webp codec from 0.4.4 to 0.5.1

Hi Pierre-Emmanuel, could you please update the webp codec to 0.5.1 when it's released?

The webp codec was updated to 0.5.0 a few months ago with some improvements that you can read about here: https://groups.google.com/a/webmproject ... 5ZF4hgPRkk

Right now, they seem almost ready to release 0.5.1, which is currently at Release Candidate 5. Some highlights: https://groups.google.com/a/webmproject ... dwAxnmzsbw

You can read more about the improvements in 0.5.1, especially for the "near lossless" mode, in Jyrki Alakuijala's comments here: http://encode.ru/threads/2512-Combining ... ge-archive)

xnview wrote:With Klite codec pack, you'll have more formats supported

Well, I installed k-lite and now most of the audio and video files plays perfect except for mp3 with embedded cover art, in that case the preview only shows the embedded cover art but it doesn't play the file, no problem with mp3 without embedded covers. Flac files play perfect even it it have embedded cover.
I'm using XNViewMP 0.81 and K-lite codec pack standard 12.2.2 on Windows 7 64 bits.

Overlay Icons are still enabled after being unchecked

The overlay icons for Tag, Rating, Color label, etc. are all still clickable on the thumbnail of the image, even when the Overlay icons are unchecked in the options.

To reproduce:

1. Uncheck overlay icons for Tag, Rating, Color Label under Options > Thumbnail > Overlay icons
2. Click the upper left corner of the image where the overlay icons were originally before being unchecked, and the drop-down menu for the overlay icons will appear.

More detailed textstrings/captions for rotate commands

Hello,

With this thread I ask for 3 new textstrings in browser mode,
in order to really identify which rotate command is represented by a toolbar icon.
No change of functionality is required.

Details:
During the past days I did many tests with "rotate an image".
Here I have learned that XnViewMP (I worked with 0.79 and also 0.81) has 2 sets of commands:
- a set of commands that do lossless rotation with (internal commands): cmd_lrotate90, cmd_lrotate180, cmd_lrotate270
- a normal set with commands: cmd_rotate90, cmd_rotate180, cmd_rotate270 (without l in commandname)
that also depend on additional settings

Both sets of commands are available in browser-mode and also in viewer-mode.
But to my surprise different commands have identical textstrings/captions in GUI.

In order to get a better overview which command is really represented by a menu and/or by a toolbar icon,
I tried (within a private german translation) to modify the existings textstrings:
For test I added a sequence number at the end of existing strings.

All menu and toolbar icons used in VIEW-MODE now got different textstrings/captions.
(When a command only has an icon in toolbar, the helptext explained the correct command).

The original texts for cmd_rotateXXX and cmd_lrotateXXX are identical, but this can be modified for each translation.
From a programmers point of view: we have 6 string-variables/constants, but always 2 of them have identical content.

But in BROWSER-MODE there are only 3 different textstrings available (we have only 3 string variables/constants).
So it is not possible to use different captions for commands with "l" and without "l".
These 3 (modified) textstrings are different to those used in VIEW-MODE.
They are ok for all lossless-rotation commands used in menu and toolbar.

It would be very very helpful to have different captions for the different commands. Not to say that this is a must for me.

Please Pierre enhance XnViewMP and introduce another 3 textstrings in BROWSER-MODE that are used as captions for "normal rotate" commands without a "l" in internal name.
Please do it within the next release.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Herb

Lecture multi images

Merci d'avance

No problem for me using the menu or the above keyboard shortcut, XnView Classic 2.36 x32 ZIP on Windows 7 SP1 x64.

Could it be that the selected font size is too small in relation to the pixel dimensions of the image, I suspect that could be the problem, or possibly that the selected text colour doesn't display clearly?

When you click on OK do you see the white pointer indicating where the text will be placed?

Yes, there is something white after I clicked OK and move the cursor to where I want to put the text. I have set font to Ariel 20 p, and color Red, but still, nothing. I will try again.

Dual monitor how to select monitor

Hey there

I have been using your slideshow software for a while and its been great. I can make an SLD file and then launch it by command line which is super sweet. Recently, i have installed a second monitor. I want the content to go onto the second monitor however i cannot see how to assign which monitor the content goes to. There is the checkbox that says "Dual monitor , use second monitor" however the monitor i want it to go to is monitor number 1. I cant figure out how to do that. I have tried both settings of this box.

Monitor number 1 is the secondary display and monitor 2 is the primary display in windows. I want it the xnview content to go to monitor 1.

in programs like media player classic, there is a dropdown with all the monitors listed. I can find no similar thing. Can it be done by command line or something like that? please let me know.

Thank you @XnTriq!
So sorry for the delay in replying, I thought I had the forum set to send me notification of replies, and nothing had come through.
I've only just now remembered to manually check.
Yes, that was indeed the problem, the View option was set to "All", which I'm sure it couldn't have been in the past!
Switching it to "Custom" has fixed it, but isn't it a bit strange to have a setup option that is so configurable, but so easily over-ridden like that?!
So easy to do without realising what you've done!
Cheers, and thanks again, Dave.

Dual monitor how to select monitor

Figured out the problem.

You have to open and close the browser one time on the primary monitor. Then the next time you launch the slideshow, it will display correctly on the secondary screen.

i also have "dual monitor, use secondary monitor" under options -> view -> fullscreen set to CHECKED

it must just remember its old positioning. So no way to configure it. just set it up correctly the first time and it will continue to display correctly going forward.
