Parametres>Metadonnées>Update or create XP sidecar
* soit vous restez unqiuement avec la base de données, et dans 'a propos' vous avez le chemin des fichiers à sauver de temps en temps...

Cleaning Metadata Without Altering Image

nbrtyyujm wrote:I clicked Remove All Metadata, but when I Save the file, it is much larger in size so XnView must be reproccessing the image. How can I strip the metadata without altering the image?

in browser, use clean metadata. 'Save' recompress the image

Filesize changes whereas there is no change to the picture

by CheeseDurger (Posted Thu Jul 07, 2016 6:31 am)
Hi,
I'm trying to reduce image that are > to 1 MP. However, there are already multiple images < 1 MP in the input. And when the batch goes on, those images size stays the same (height and width - so far so good) but the file size changes... So why is it so ?

See, the example below : from 61,1KB to 35,2 KB. I tried the batch on jpg and png. Also, sometimes the filesize increases, and sometimes it decreases.

I searched the forums but couldn't go with anything (well, I confess I'm quite new to all of this).

Thanks.

No thumbnail on newly created pictures

by Octopuss (Posted Thu Jul 07, 2016 4:20 pm)
I use Lightroom and export photos to specific folder. When I export a photo to that folder while having XnView opened in browser mode in that specific folder, thumbnail of the photo is not showing unless I move to different folder and back. Few versions back I could at least press F5 to refresh the list and the thumbnail would load, but not in .80 and .81 (I am not sure when exactly did it stop working).

Please offer XnView's 'ScrollVal' option in XnViewMP, too

by Kwith (Posted Thu Jul 07, 2016 6:34 pm)
I'd like to be able to set the vertical scroll amount in XnViewMP, as it is possible in XnView (settings, ouse, scroll value).

To better understand the reason for my suggestion, please
- use a 1920 width monitor (or imagine you have one),
- download the example thumbsheet http://www.mediafire.com/view/x91h8xi1x133o6w/Asterix_-_Sieg_%C3%BCber_C%C3%A4sar%3B_%5B1985%5D_%5B720x576x25_0742%5D.mkv.ts.jpe,
- set vertical scroll to 232 and mousewheel to hover in image (rather than switching between files) in XnView,
- open the file in XnView,
- set to 100% zoom and press Ctrl+Home to browse the image from top, or Ctrl+End to browse it from bottom.
- Then scroll with the mouse wheel.
Note that the thumbnail positions remain fixed, i.e. the thumbnail lines do not drift up or down while you scroll, but the 4 thumbnail lines (1920x1080) stay at their positions. This gives a very ergonomic viewing experience. I do not know any other image viewer to do this with.

The example is a video thumbsheet created with an Avisynth script. I estimate these thumbsheets very high to quickly browse movies or my own holiday digicam clips, and have thousands of them.
XnView, to my knowledge, is the only graphics viewer with the option to set the vertical scroll to achieve this effect. With all other programs, including XnViewMP, the small scrolling steps request the eye to locate the frames again and again, making the obervation more tedious, and also with images of this size (30856x1704 pixels), scrolling is too slow to get from top to bottom.

I would have stayed with XnView and everything was fine, but unfortunately, XnView does not support Unicode characters in the path, and XnViewMP does. I really hope, because the user setting was already there in XnView, that it is not too complicated to copy it to the XnViewMP sources, and keep offering this feature.

I have Del key associated with deleting a file in both browser and view mode, and it just wouldn't work.

Could you please give 0.83 beta 1 a spin?

Color Shift On Preview, Raw Size Change To Half

by Mixer (Posted Fri Jul 08, 2016 12:16 am)
https://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/ wrote:Why does dcraw output have a green tint and weak color?
Because dcraw doesn't have a color matrix for your camera model, it outputs raw color instead of sRGB. To fix this, I need a photo of a Wolf Faust, ColorChecker, CMP, or other calibrated color chart. Follow this checklist:
Use a real chart, not a printout or screen image.
Wait for sunny weather, local noon ± two hours.
Carefully brush any dust off the chart.
Tilt the chart 90° to the camera and 45° to the sun to avoid specular reflections.
Set the camera two meters away and use telephoto zoom.
      Use the lowest ISO setting.

v0.78 x64: Hide Title Bar and Save Layout Bug

by Erixx haxx (Posted Fri Jul 08, 2016 9:00 am)
I just got back to using xnviewmp and this bug is still here.
Last tried on v0.79 and v0.83-B1. So I'll assume its in everything in between.

It makes it impossible to use this feature at all. ( Acually the program if you gota open up the .ini file every time to get your title bar back)
On top of that now when you just tick and un-tick ( Hide titlebar ) it kicks you into a little bitty windowed mode.

Also it has:
size=@Size(1360 722)
When my screen is 1360x768.
I don't think (hide titlebar) is holding when you exit is part of the problem..

Convert JPEG from 72 dpi to 300 dpi

by XnTriq (Posted Fri Jul 08, 2016 3:00 pm)
NConvert defaults to a JPEG compression factor of 85.
XnView OTOH uses the settings provided in Tools» Options...» Read/Write» Write» JPEG.
The option to Use estimated original quality if possible is not available nConvert, AFAIK.

What are the specs (Q-factor, sub-sampling, metadata, etc.) of your input files?

WebP support

by WinnieW (Posted Sat Jul 09, 2016 1:08 am)
heimaki wrote:it seems wepb is supported now, but something is confusing when saving:

it is not obvious at all what to do if one wants to save lossless, as far as i can tell, we need to set quality to 100% to get this, everything below is lossy.
it would make much more sense to have a seperate (radio)button for lossless.

I agree with you.
@Author of XnView
I'd really like to see a dedicted switch to toggle between lossless und lossy mode.

BTW libwebp 0.5.1 has been released a few hours ago.

Some notable improvements: Bug fixes and faster lossless encoding
