better zoom options in images comparison

by gendalf (Posted Thu Jun 02, 2016 7:51 pm)
When the images are different resolution the + - buttons are not sufficient.
You can zoom in/out images individually, while holding ctrl - it helps, but isn't precise enough.

Parent category not set from toolbar

by bgoodman (Posted Fri Jun 03, 2016 1:32 am)
Using XnView MP 0.79 x64 on both Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.3.

In Settings>Metadata>Automatically apply parent keyword = checked

Select an image and use Category icon in the main toolbar to set a second-level category.

The second level category for the image is set, but the parent category is not.

[Expected both parent and second-level category to be set.]

Parent category IS set if second-level category is clicked in Categories panel.

Category not set from sidecar if category is empty

by bgoodman (Posted Fri Jun 03, 2016 1:49 am)
Using XnView MP 0.79 x64 on both Windows 7 and Linux Mint 17.3.

In Settings>Metadata>Update or Create Sidecar = checked.

In browser, view a file image which has an IPTC keyword of "Dog".

In Categories panel, uncheck "Dog" category. An XMP sidecar file is created for the image with an empty keyword specification.

Exit XnView MP.

Copy image file and sidecar into a new directory.

Launch XnView MP and view the new image file. It will have a category of "Dog" even though the Dog category was removed.

Note: This works properly if the "Dog" category is removed and a "Cat" category is added. The sidecar properly overrides the categories from the image file IPTC data. The problem seems to occur only when the IPTC keyword data is empty indicating that there should be NO category on an image file which contains an IPTC keyword.

Context Menu "Convert with XnConvert" broken on Windows 10

by ipzipzap (Posted Fri Jun 03, 2016 8:56 am)
Hi,

on Windows 10, you can check "Add 'Convert with XnConvert' to context menu" on the Settings-Tab, but it won't work and won't be saved. If you close and re-open XnConvert, the option is unckecked again.

Will there be a fix for that?

Thanks in advance,
ipzipzap

Thumbnails forget size when panel divider moved

bgoodman wrote:If a user selects a thumbnail size, shouldn't the browser display mode change to "width of thumbnail"?

Otherwise, the browser is in an inconsistent state which causes wild changes like the one I describe.

Yes, makes sense to me.

bgoodman wrote:Are those controls available in the menus somewhere?

Not that I know of.

Changing categories in properties dialog in view mode fails

by bgoodman (Posted Fri Jun 03, 2016 5:56 pm)
Using XnView MP 0.79 on Windows 7 x64.

Open an image in View Mode.

Right click image and select Properties (or Edit>Properties).

Select Categories tab.

Check a category.

Click OK.

No change is made to the image file or catalog.

(I am guessing that this dialog is intended to be read-only and not for making changes. If that is the case, maybe the checkboxes in the Categories tab should be disabled?)

Right, it stop locking immediately if I navigate into any empty folder.
Well, If you can't reproduce bug with my ini I guess we can't do any more thing for now. At least I have workaround with enabling folder thumbnailing and bug don't appear. Although their creation and updating is kind of slow for folders with large exr files

Crash while browsing unrecognized format image

bgoodman wrote:I couldn't figure out how to upload the failing file, so let me know if you want to receive it.

You should be able to upload it in a ZIP or RAR archive, 2MiB current maximum attachment size.

If you edit your previous post I'll delete this one...

Extend NConvert with a custom format

by Seneral (Posted Fri Jun 03, 2016 10:08 pm)
Seneral wrote:
xnview wrote:in reading or writting?

Preferrably both, but for my use case only write - reading in Unity itself is actually very simple, but we can't export it in a different format. Thus, reading is really important for Unity in general (terrain exports only to 16Bit raw, so to use it we'd need read support, too), but for my specific use case it's only write.
The thing preventing of handling all this ourselves in Unity is it's lack of support for other 16Bit formats than raw, so we need a conversion tool, else we'd need loads of third party libraries to account for all possible conversion formats... but this is what NConvert is basically already doing so that's why I'm here;)
If there's any chance you could implement this, I'd very much appreciate it:)
