Full Screen+Image details-metadata
by mrwul (Posted Tue May 31, 2016 2:41 pm)
My wish is to have a column with all the metadata at the side of a full screen display.
A bit like the below. It is just an very rough idea!
Users might define the details to be displayed in the right (or left) details bar.
Maybe this is already possible, I don't know.

Convert to Amiga IFF - Black and White
by Amon_RA (Posted Tue May 31, 2016 4:59 pm)
I'm trying to convert PNG files to Amiga IFF, but no matter what I do the Amiga IFF files are always in black and white.
It also doesn't matter if I try to define some color changing actions, the result is always the same.
Is there a known but for Amiga IFF files, or am I missing a step?
XNview doesn't seem to have the issue, so I'll be using XNview to do the job![Smile :)]()

XnView Classic vs XnView MP

Yes, as posted.

- in XnViewMP the file size changes with the quality slider: 100% = 5,86MB, 90% = 2,36MB, 80% = 1,66MB. So Classic seems to be able to estimate the quality, MP not.
Format settings>Write>Jpeg>Use estimated quality is enabled?

Extend NConvert with a custom format
by Seneral (Posted Tue May 31, 2016 6:49 pm)
Ok, the specification actually is correct. But, windows and some other operating system treat kilobytes as 1024 bytes rather than 1000 (see wikipedia) so if you see exactly 512kB, here is what happens:
512*512 * 2Bytes = 524.288 Bytes => 524.288 Bytes / 1024 = 512kb
for operating systems using 1000Bytes/kB it's then obviously roughly 524kB.
So the specification mentioned above is correct:)

your sample has not a file size of 512x512x2bytes?

XnView Classic vs XnView MP
by BillBo (Posted Wed Jun 01, 2016 9:27 am)
I use the classic because you will not do red-eye correction in the MP. Been wanting it for years, but you will not listen. Even some of the worst software on the market have it. You cannot say that it is not needed. The correction feature on cameras do not work all that well.

Sorting Folders by Date Taken
by vseera (Posted Wed Jun 01, 2016 2:38 pm)
Hi,
I am new here and have discovered this seemingly powerful software. I have been a Picasa user for many many years and am looking for a replacement, following Google's abandonment of the product.
One simple feature I have been looking for, which none of the free/paid image organisers/editors seem to be able to do is sort albums/folders by date taken.
The files themselves may have been accessed and modified at a later date, maybe if they were edited in some way. But the original date that the picture was taken is in the EXIF info.
Now, Picasa does this very easily and will sort folders by the dates they were taken, so it's easy to see what was the last album of photos I shot.
When I try to do this in XnViewMP (and also XnView), nothing happens. The folders remain alphabetically sorted. Is there something really simple I am missing? Or is this a bug? Or just something XnView can't do?
I would really appreciate it if anyone could offer a suggestion or shed more light on this. You would make my day!
Thank you!

Extend NConvert with a custom format
by Seneral (Posted Wed Jun 01, 2016 4:49 pm)
You mean, in the software I'm using?
No, raw is a fully featured file format in Unity and we can use it fine - but other common formats like png are only supported in 8Bit...
So we would need a converter to convert to 16Bit raw for some special cases like heightmaps - the terrain system uses this format natively, aswell as a tool that I'm using, TC. But without Photoshop we have no way to convert to that format. I hope that makes it clear why we really need a converter, and as I was using NConvert before I thought it would be a great idea to have it integrated, depending on how much it would take in terms of work.
So, I hope the download is now working for you, but anyway it's not too complex as I said;)
I'd appreciate any good news in that regard:)
Seneral
EDIT: I think I misunderstood your post, so does this mean NConvert already supports Raw? I tried it already, but it failed, maybe because as you said it was 16Bit. Is there any chance you'll add 16 bit support and possibly some parameters regarding read behaviour?
Because 16Bit is the real reason behind using the raw format for me and the Unity community;)

Hi,
is this also working on OSX? I tried putting the icons from the Windows zip (changed some icons) into the settings folder:
- USER/.xnviewmp/UI/icons-48
- USER/.xnviewmp/UI/icons
- USER/.xnviewmp/icons
- and also into the package /Applications/XnViewMP.app/Contents/MacOS/UI/icons-48
... but no success. Is there a way to do it on OSX?
Thanks!
