- videoMode=false (default): QtAV activated » crash
- videoMode=true: QtAV de-activated » no crash + no video
- Remove all entries related to MP (HKCU\Software\QtProject, HKCU\Software\Trolltech, HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewMP) from the registry.
- Delete all files in %AppData%\XnViewMP\.
- Extract XnViewMP-win.zip to D:\Programs\XnViewMP_081\.
- Create a new xnview.ini in D:\Programs\XnViewMP_081\ with the following content:
- Code: Select all
[Start]
otherFlag=1
updater=0
language=en
otherFolder=
dbFlag=1
dbFolder=
[%General]
videoMode=false
- Start MP from Run... in the Start menu:
- Code: Select all
D:\Programs\XnViewMP_081\xnviewmp.exe C:\WINDOWS\Help\Tours\WindowsMediaPlayer\Video\
- Confirm the error message (“Entry Point Not Found”) with OK.
MP starts in browse mode and creates thumbnails for all 5 WMV files in C:\WINDOWS\Help\Tours\WindowsMediaPlayer\Video\. - Select the thumbnail for any of the 5 WMVs in the browser.
The preview turns black for a short moment, then MP crashes.

Externally refreshing category tree
by paulr00001 (Posted Tue Jul 19, 2016 4:27 pm)
I am looking for a way to programmatically cause a refresh of Categories in XnViewMP.
I change metadata externally, and just need to "Refresh" the displayed Categories. Executing View/"Update catalog from files" works, but I'd like to do this automagically.
Would I need to use something like AutoHotkey or is there a better way?
Would updating the sqlite DB instead of metadata in files work any better? (With this method, I still need to View/"Update files from catalog" to see the updates.)
Any tips/tricks/advice?
Regards,
Paul.

Allow wider field for filename in Status Bar
by C1879 (Posted Tue Jul 19, 2016 10:23 pm)
I've seen several requests to add more fields to the status bar. That would be great. But I have a specific request.
Some of the file names of my photos are quite long. The file name on the status bar appears with an ellipsis in the middle of the name. (e.g., "2016-05-03-Alaska-Glacier-...Park") It'd be cool if If I could configured that field to be wider.

DDS File Coruption
by Brecert (Posted Tue Jul 19, 2016 10:40 pm)
Brief Description :
When I convert any type of file to DDS (Even DDS) It will get corrupted when outputted to DDS.
Most of the time it makes it unopenable, but occasionally half with pieces missing. I assume this is from a different DDS format being loaded.
The file size also shrinks down from 1302kb to just 257kb. Always 257kb no matter the starting format.
--
Steps :
1. Drag a picture.
2. Convert to DDS.
3. Try to view with a program that can view DDS.
It crashes the software that I use or does not appear, hower most applications will display strange cropping and lines
I am on Windows 10 with Intel Intergrated graphics.
--
Example Files :
Before #1 : https://goo.gl/uxRu8u [Before.dds]
After #1 : https://goo.gl/q9815C [Result.dds]
Before #2 : https://goo.gl/QK8ZHI [Before 2.dds]

Only one file in instance
by carrabino (Posted Wed Jul 20, 2016 5:35 am)
i download XnViewMP from here:
http://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/
i don't see anywhere to download the beta (v0.82b-3) ...
i have:
Version 0.81 x64 (Jun 27 2016) ... i just re-downloaded and re-installed, same thing.
Libformat version 6.90
Windows 7, 64-bit
It runs in "restored" screen size (not full, not minimized, just a regular window) exactly as i like it.

- Options>> General>> Allow only 1 instance is un-ticked
- Options>> Max tabs set to 1
I just tried as you say and it works for me.
I am using right click open with. if that matters...
XnView Instance 1 = shows image1 and 1tab
XnView Instance 2 = shows image2 and 1tab
We are talking about fullscreen. right

XnViewMP 0.81 - associated program and default viewer
by mustbeit (Posted Wed Jul 20, 2016 10:03 am)
Hello,
It's either a miss knowledge of myself or a feature request.
In the viewing pane, one can right click on a thumbnail and select "open with" than choose "configure program"
I wishes to associate with:
text like format (.md, .css, .js, etc) some text editor
.doc(x), odt some word like editor
xls(x), .csv some spreadsheet editor.
Unfortunately, if I can associate the different editors, XnViewMP applies it on ALL non-images formats, so that in my "open with" I have:
ALT+1: program1
ALT+2: program2
etc.
Furthermore, the associated program (F3) won't work for .doc(x), .md, etc
What I desire is that the default viewer on a double click on some file type is the default viewer I want for this file format, and on right click "open with" the list of possible viewers.
How can I achieve that?
Thanks.
P.S. XnViewMP under Linux
In Settings>Integration>Path "Open the catalog Location" does not work

Custom Fields in Info panel
by duarte.framos (Posted Wed Jul 20, 2016 12:59 pm)
Hum, that could work but I am not totally sure what you mean. Could you point me in the right direction?
Do you have any tutorial on how to accomplish that, or perhaps a link to some documentation about that feature?
Is that under browse mode or view mode? I don't really know where to start

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I've done my tests on XP SP3 (with KB2904266 installed) where the problem also seems to depend on whether or not Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving time (Control Panel» Date and Time» Time Zone) is activated.
