No problem for me with XnConvert 1.73 x32 ZIP (downloaded from xnview.com) on Windows 7 64-bit, using Avast! security software...
If the process is running in Task Manager but no window is displayed, could it be that your security software is scanning the file and it will open after a longish delay, although you would expect to be informed that the file is being scanned? Could you scan the download directly with your security software?
Alternatively, do you possibly have a [much] earlier version installed that might be somehow be causing a conflict?
