In topic ** English - English the translation of the setting "Single view for multi-opened files" of XnView MP was discussed.
For a good translation its important to understand what the software does. So XnTriq has investigated the feature and I continued these investigations. The result is:
XnView Classic 2.36: Setting: "View > View > Open only one view for multiple files (startup & drag&drop)"
1a - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered by pressing "Enter" key:
Setting has no effect. Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
1b - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered by pressing Ctrl+O:
Not available. (Shortcut Ctrl+O opens "Open picture" dialog).
1c - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered via "Open" context menu:
Setting has no effect. Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
1d - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered via "Tools > Open" menu:
Setting has no effect. Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
2 - Start up (e.g. "Send to > Open in XnView" context menu in Explorer):
On: Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the sent files.
Off: Multiple tabs are opened, one for each file.
3 - Drag & Drop (e.g. Drag & Drop from Windows Explorer to XnView in View mode):
On: Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the dragged&dropped files.
Off: Multiple tabs are opened, one for each file.
XnView MP 0.83: Setting "Interface > Interface > Single view for multiopened files"
1a - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered by pressing "Enter" key:
Setting has no effect. Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
1b - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered by pressing Ctrl+O:
Setting has no effect: Multiple tabs are opened, one for each file.
1c - Browser, multiple files selected, then "Open" action using context menu:
Setting has no effect: Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
1d - Browser, multiple files selected. Open action triggered via "Tools > Open" menu:
Setting has no effect. Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the previously selected files.
2 - Start up (e.g. "Send to > Open in XnView MP" context menu in Explorer):
- not tested because there's no such menu entry -
3 - Drag & Drop (e.g. Drag & Drop from Windows Explorer to XnView in View mode:
On: Only one tab is opened and you can navigate through the dragged&dropped files.
Off: Multiple tabs are opened, one for each file.
The basic features of XnView Classic and XnView MP are supposed to work the same way, so there are two bugs:
Bug 1 - Ctrl+O in XnView MP triggers different action than in XnView Classic.
Bug 2 - XnView MP: Ctrl+O triggers different action than "Open" context menu / Enter key / "Tools > Open" menu
